Biography:
Hola amores! My name is Genesis Quezada, and I am originally from the beautiful island of the Dominican Republic. I was raised in the Lawrence/Methuen community, a place that has shaped my heart, my purpose, and my passion for serving others.
I am a mental health clinician with over 9 years of experience in the education and mental health field. Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to guiding individuals as they overcome challenges, build resilience, and find strength during difficult seasons of life.
I am also a proud mother to a beautiful 7-year-old daughter, who is truly my world. Motherhood has deeply shaped the way I see healing, support, family, and community. It has made me even more passionate about walking alongside women and families during some of the most meaningful and vulnerable moments of their lives.
Why did you become a doula?
I decided to become a doula because I wanted to give back to my community, especially the families and mothers of Lawrence. I have always had a heart for helping others, and becoming a doula allows me to support mothers during pregnaAs someone with a background in mental health, I understand how important it is for mothers to feel seen, heard, supported, and empowered throughout their journey.ncy, birth, and postpartum with compassion, education, and emotional care.
What is your personal connection to birth/family/community?
My personal connection to birth, family, and community comes from my own experience as a mother and from my passion for serving others. Being a mother has taught me the importance of having support, understanding, and encouragement during life-changing transitions.
Growing up in the Lawrence/Methuen area also gives me a strong connection to the families in this community. I care deeply about advocating for others, especially women and families who may feel overwhelmed, unheard, or unsure of how to navigate their journey. My passion is to listen, support, educate, and be a voice for those who need someone by their side.
What is your philosophy of doula care?
My philosophy of doula care is rooted in compassion, respect, empowerment, and advocacy. I believe every mother deserves to feel supported, informed, and respected throughout her pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience.
As a doula, my goal is not to make decisions for the mother, but to help her feel confident in her own voice and choices. I believe birth support should be emotional, physical, educational, and culturally sensitive. Every family is different, and I honor each mother’s unique story, values, and needs.
I also believe that mental and emotional wellness are an important part of birth and postpartum care. My background as a mental health clinician allows me to support mothers with empathy, patience, and awareness during such a vulnerable and powerful time.
Who is your ideal client?
My ideal client is a mother or family who is looking for compassionate, nonjudgmental, and culturally sensitive support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
I especially feel called to support mothers who may feel anxious, overwhelmed, alone, or unsure of what to expect. I enjoy working with women who want to feel educated, emotionally supported, and empowered in their choices.
Whether it is a first-time mother, a mother who has experienced previous challenges, or a family simply looking for extra support, my goal is to create a safe and welcoming space where they feel heard, respected, and cared for.
