I came to this country 20 years ago with the purpose of helping my family economically and to develop my skills. My background is in the community serving others. I worked as a teacher assistant in my country, here I’ve been working as a babysitter (taking care of newborns to 11 years old) helping families. I also work as a Community Health Worker at a clinic, I’ve been doing this for 5 years. My passion has always been serving people.

Why did you become a doula?

I decided to become a doula because 15 years ago I had my youngest son and I was by myself at the hospital, family members were far away. I experienced the feeling of loneliness while giving birth. I am able to support women who are in need of help at an important event in life.

What is your personal connection to birth/family/community?

My personal connection is that I have been working with women who are in need of emotional support and I have been able to assist at difficult times in their lives, I also keep a stretch relationship with my family as I am a fundamental support for them.

What is your philosophy of doula care?

My philosophy as doula is to focus on advocate and support women in the process of becoming a mom. Make it a beautiful experience to be memorable for parents and all family, using knowledge and community resources.

Who is your ideal client?

My ideal client would be, someone who is willing to receive services and support, someone who wants to cooperate to create a confident relationship to get a successful birth.
