Biography:

My name is Maria Dilone, and I was born and raised in Dominican Republic. I was raised by my grandparents and my parents. So, I was raising conservatism and modern at the same time. Since I was a young girl, I always remember being fascinated about how wonderful the human body and all the changes on it, specialty childbirth. In my country, I enrolled in medicine school, and I had the privilege to first watch and assisted many childbirths and do it by myself. I was blessing a few years ago with a wonderful daughter and at this moment, I become more passionate about the magical experience of a childbirth.

For many years, since I came to this country, I focused to learn the language and educated myself, so I can help others. I have been worked in the medical field for several years. For me, pregnancy is one of the most beautiful miracles in the passage in life. As a mother and a doula, I have a strong passion for supporting people and providing them with my knowledge and tools for what they need to have a healthy and a happy life. I would love to provide emotional, physical and informational support to the mothers and their families. Follow them during this beautiful process of pregnancy, birth and postpartum period and being part of them.

Outside of my roles as a doula and single mom, I love the nature and health. I love to run, the gym, music, healthy food and read.

I’m planning to continue my studies to further my knowledge in labor and delivery nurse.

Why did you become a doula?

I become a Doula after a bad experience during my process of delivering my baby. The lack of communication and language barrier were the most stressful moments in life . For me being a doulas is to have an opportunity to help others and serves to my community.

What is your personal connection to birth/family/community?

The opportunity to build the relationship between the family and the community. Care for patients physically and emotionally.

What is your philosophy of doula care?

My philosophy of doula care is looking at the client and their family wellbeing.

Who is your ideal client?

All clients that need helps during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum.
