Biography: Hello, my name Selina Toribio I’m a 30-year-old Puerto Rican and Dominican mother of two, called to serve families during one of the most sacred seasons of their lives.
I believe birth is a sacred, God-designed experience that involves the mind, body, and spirit. My approach to doula care is rooted in cultural humility, evidence-based education, and faith-centered encouragement when welcomed. I’m especially passionate about supporting Latina, immigrant, and faith-oriented families who desire care that honors their values, voices, and traditions.
When I’m not working as a doula where I’m usually spending my time is with my family, at church, cooking/baking, outside in nature, or doing yoga.
Why did you become a doula?:
Motherhood transformed me and through my own experiences with pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, I witnessed firsthand how powerful it is when a woman feels supported, informed, and respected. Those experiences—combined with my deep faith and love for serving others led me to my calling as a doula.
What is your personal connection to birth/family/community?:
My connection to birth began through my own journey into motherhood. As a mother of two, I experienced how powerful birth can be when a woman feels supported and how vulnerable it can feel without that care. Those experiences called me to support other families during this sacred transition.
Family and community are central to my work. In my culture, birth is a shared experience rooted in connection, tradition, and support. I honor those values by providing culturally sensitive, bilingual care that centers the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of each family.
I am especially committed to serving Latina, immigrant, and Spanish-speaking families, helping bridge gaps in communication, advocacy, and access to compassionate support. For me, birth is where families begin, communities grow, and healing happens—and it is an honor to walk alongside families during this powerful season.
What is your philosophy of doula care?:
I believe birth is a sacred, god-designed experience not a medical event to be rushed or feared. Every mother deserves to feel seen, heard, respected, and supported emotionally, physically, spiritually, and culturally. As a doula my role is to walk alongside families, not lead or replace their voice. I provide evidence based education, compassionate advocacy, and continuous presence so mothers can make informed decisions with confidence and peace.
Who is your ideal client?:
My ideal client is a woman who desires holistic, culturally sensitive, and faith-centered birth support—who values education, advocacy, and emotional presence as she prepares to welcome her baby with confidence and peace.
Areas of Specialization:
First-time parents, Unmedicated birth, Home birth, Nutrition, Baby wearing, Breastfeeding, Meditation & breathwork
