Biography:
My name is Leidy Anziani. I was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to the United States at the age of 9. I’ve lived in Lawrence ever since. I’m a proud mother of four, two boys and two girls, a grandmother, and a loving cat mom to an orange tabby. One of my long-term career goals is to become a nurse, with a special focus on maternity care.
As a Doula, my goal is to support other moms by providing compassionate care and advocating for them. I became a mother at a young age, and I want to be the kind of person who is present mentally, physically, and emotionally for those who need it most.
Why did you become a doula?
I want to become a doula because I want to help expecting mothers have a positive birthing experience and be there as their support person when it is most needed.
What is your personal connection to birth/family/community?
My personal connection is that I work in the community and have assisted with a family birth before. I can relate because I am a mother of four and kind of know what to expect.
What is your philosophy of doula care?
To be able to support an expecting mother and be that bridge who can advocate for her and be there to help during her most vulnerable times.
Who is your ideal client?
Any, as long as they’re willing to accept my support.
