Biography: My name is Leidy Anziani. I was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to the United States at the age of 9. I’ve lived in Lawrence ever since. I’m a proud mother of four, two boys and two girls, a grandmother, and a loving cat mom to an orange tabby. One of my long-term career goals is to become a nurse, with a special focus on maternity care.
As a Doula, my goal is to support other moms by providing compassionate care and advocating for them. I became a mother at a young age, and I want to be the kind of person who is present mentally, physically, and emotionally for those who need it most.
Why did you become a doula?:
I want to become a doula because I want to help expecting mothers have a positive birthing experience and be there as their support person when it is most needed.
What is your personal connection to birth/family/community?:
My personal connection is that I work in the community and have assisted with a family birth before. I can relate because I am a mother of four and kind of know what to expect.
What is your philosophy of doula care?:
To be able to support an expecting mother and be that bridge who can advocate for her and be there to help during her most vulnerable times.
Who is your ideal client?:
Any, as long as they’re willing to accept my support.
